Joanne is a board certified rehabilitation medicine doctor (MD), experienced registered yoga teacher (E-RYT), wellness consultant, and fitness expert who is passionate about exercise as prescription for healing.  Her training includes holistic health coaching (CHHC) through Integrative Nutrition, and Medical Acupuncture through Harvard University. She also carries a board certification in Integrative and Holistic Medicine. Furthermore, she is a certified Cancer Exercise Trainer (CET) through American College of Sports Medicine and a Level II Reiki Practitioner. 


Specifically on the mat, she has a foundation in Anusara Yoga, and have continued to broaden her practice through Yoga for Seniors with Duke University, Iyengar Yoga for Scoliosis and Back Care, Baptiste Yoga for Athletes, Restorative Yoga Therapeutics, Aerial Yoga, Acroyoga and Thai Yoga Massage.  Through these diverse pathways, she has established a vibrant and comprehensive approach to her Yoga journey and teaching. Her philosophy of “movement for healthful living” is supported by her background in endurance sports, Spinning, Pilates, Barre, Aerials and Hoop. To date, she has over 20,000 combined hours of teaching, training, practicing and continual education in yoga, fitness and wellness.


Through her roles as a Lululemon Athletica and Manduka Ambassador, Prana Influencer, Inner Fire Luminary and Acroyoga JAMbassador, she enjoys helping build a community in which safe supported play, exploration, and inspiration can be achieved on and off the mat. Acroyoga has been a wonderful gift to her for the last five years and along with her background in Aerials, she has been performing and teaching for various communities. She is certified to teach Acro from Acroyoga Fit, SeattleAcro, and Acro Revolution. Furthermore, she has studied intensively with other schools of Acro such as LIFT School of Acrobatics, Acroyoga Montreal, YogaSlackers and Cheer style Acro. She currently teaches a variety of fitness and wellness classes as well as private mind/body medicine clients, and lead workshops in Aerial Yoga, Partner Yoga, Hoop Yoga, Acroplay, TRX Yoga, SUP Yoga,Therapeutic Yoga, Barre, Pilates and Reformer in Upstate NY. She is the Executive Director and Founder of the annual Upstate Acro Fest.


In Buffalo, she can also be found teaching regular classes for yoga at East Meets West on Elmwood, TRX and spinning at Revolution Cycling. In the summer, she enjoys collaborating with the LongBoards Beach team for SUP yoga events.
